How Medicare Smart Are You?

Which of the following medical services are available at no cost to Medicare enrollees?

  1. Obesity counseling
  2. Smoking cessation programs
  3. Bone mass measurements
  4. All of the above

The answer is 'D. All of the above.'

Medicare beneficiaries are entitled to a number of no-cost services designed to keep them healthy, and these three are just a few of them.

Obesity counseling — Medicare will cover the cost of obesity counseling for enrollees whose weight puts them in an at-risk category for obesity-related health issues.

Smoking cessation programs — Medicare will allow beneficiaries to enroll in an approved program at no cost.

Bone mass measurements — With the risk of osteoporosis increasing with age, Medicare will cover the cost of these measurements once every two years for those at risk.
