Questions about referral fees

Yes, direct deposit is available. If you are new to Medicare BackOffice, signing up for direct deposit will be done with your registration. If you are a current partner looking to set up direct deposit, please contact our Internal Wholesaler, who will help you set it up.

If your affiliation is listed in the drop-down box when you register, you typically do not need to complete a W-9, because we issue payment to that entity. If you registered as an independent agent or advisor — meaning you chose “Affiliation/BD not listed” from the drop-down menu when registering — you will need to fill out a W-9 and fax it to 402-391-9686.

No. Our services are free of charge to you and your clients.

Medicare Supplement and Medicare Advantage health insurance plans and Medicare Part D Prescription Drug plans. However, be aware that we do not pay referral fees on Part D.

Referral fees are only paid for those Medicare Supplement and Medicare Advantage policies that are issued and paid by the carrier. We do not pay referral fees on Medicare Part D prescription drug plans.

The amount of the referral fee varies by product but generally ranges from $100 to $200.

We will pay you the month after the policy is issued and we are paid by the carrier, typically around the 10th of the month.

It depends on how you register and how you direct us to pay you. If you registered as an independent agent or advisor — meaning you chose “Affiliation/BD not listed” from the drop-down menu when registering — a check is issued directly to whomever you listed on your W-9 form. (If you put your Social Security number on the W-9, the check is issued in your name. If you put your employer identification number, the check is issued in that entity’s name.) If you chose one of the broker dealers or other entities listed in the drop-down menu during registration, the check in most cases goes directly to that company, which should then issue you your portion of the referral. If your affiliation is listed in the drop-down box when you register, you typically do not need to complete a W-9.

You do not have to receive a referral fee. Just call us at 1-877-385-8083 and let us know.

No. Referral fees are paid one time per client.

Yes. You will receive a statement showing your client’s name, the product type purchased, the carrier and the amount of referral paid.

Contact Medicare BackOffice at 1-877-385-8083 and provide your name and the name of your client.  We will research to make sure that the policy has been issued and that we have been paid by the carrier.

You get paid for that referral, too! The more you refer and the more those referred clients refer, the more you get paid!

Questions about registration

No. Our services are free to you and your clients.

We prefer you contact your agency or broker dealer and inform them of our service. If they believe it to be of value, we will get the company on the approved list, and you can register through it. If you have already notified your agency or broker dealer and do not see your affiliation listed, please select “My Affiliation/BD is not listed.”

You will see an immediate thank-you-for-registering message on the page. You also will receive a confirmation email at the address you provided when registering. The email includes information on how to get started, with links to customizable documents you can give to clients so they remember to provide your name to Medicare BackOffice to ensure you get paid the referral fee. You also will receive a quarterly eNewsletter aimed at improving your understanding of Medicare, Medicare-related issues in the news and how health care costs and Medicare rules relate to retirement planning.

Questions about the process

Absolutely!

Yes, and we encourage you to do so and to ask questions. We also encourage you to review our process before having your clients contact us, so you fully understand our process.

We will email you to let you know that we discussed Medicare plan options with your client. Because there can be some time between our initial discussion with your client and when he or she makes a decision on a Medicare plan, we also will email you when the client enrolls in a Medicare plan through us. If your client hasn’t enrolled in a Medicare plan through us after about six months, we will email you with that update. See the whole process here. You also can check the status of clients you’ve referred to us at any time by logging in to the Medicare BackOffice website to view your client dashboard. The client dashboard lists the names of clients who have made it to the application phase, each client’s referral date, if a policy was issued, the issue date and the policy type.

Yes! Under our “Resources” tab, click on “Client-facing” to find documents, videos, PowerPoint presentations and emails that help you assist your clients with understanding Medicare and Medicare BackOffice. These include our popular “Guide to Medicare: Helping You Navigate the Medicare Maze” and a video that clearly explains the importance of reviewing Medicare Part D Prescription Drug plans each year during Medicare’s Open Enrollment Period — and more!

We’ve made it easy! There are three ways to refer:

  • Encourage your clients to call us at 1-877-385-8083 and tell them to provide your name to the Licensed Insurance Agent.
  • Click on the “Refer” button and complete the requested form. We will contact your client.
  • Have your client complete the “Contact Us” section on the consumer side of www.MedicarebBackOffice.com.
