Jan. 1 – Feb. 14
Medicare Advantage Disenrollment Period
When someone with a Medicare Advantage plan (Part C) can leave that plan and switch to Original Medicare.
 
Feb. 15 – Oct. 14
"Lock-in Period"
When most Medicare beneficiaries are unable to change their underlying Medicare coverage, unless they have a Special Election Period.
Jan. 1 – March 31
General Enrollment Period
When someone who did not enroll in Medicare Part B during his or her initial enrollment period gets another chance to sign up. However, he or she may have to pay a late enrollment penalty.
Oct. 15 – Dec. 7
Open Enrollment Period for Medicare Advantage and Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Coverage
When all people with Medicare can change their Medicare health plan and prescription drug coverage for the next year.
