Your 65-year-old client is enrolling in Medicare. His wife is 60. Can his wife also enroll in Medicare?
The answer is “NO.”
No. One spouse’s eligibility does not transfer to the other spouse. To qualify for Medicare, an individual must be:
- Age 65
- Or have received Social Security Disability Insurance for 24 months
- Or have end-stage renal disease,
- Or have ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease)
